07 Μαρ INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY
In 1910 the member and leader of Social Democratic Party of Germany Clara Zetkin established the idea of International woman’s day, which was considered to promote the woman demands, achieve gender equality, claim for woman’s rights and realize their full potential. This year there is a big campaign in the social media #PressforProgress2018 and it’s a call for action to press forward and progress gender parity. Although this day has transformed through the years into Woman’s day, when our beloved men should offer us flowers and presents, when women arrange big celebrations and no one recalls the real meaning of this day!
According to the World Economic Forum the gender gap won’t close until 2138. What this day for sure gave to many women is choice, to work or not, to obey or not, to create a family or not.
For me this day has the aroma of my childhood. This day was a public holiday and the begging of spring. I remember every 8th of march morning my granddad used to bring a big bouquet of mimosa branches to my granny and there was always a festive lunch. In the evening my Granny used to put on her new dress with her beautiful brooch and they were going to the theatre to watch a trendy performance. Me and my sister were preparing handmade cards for mum and granny, we were always getting flowers from our dad and local parfums from granddad. It was a great tradition and one of the sweetest memories.
Today, I still expect my husband and son, who has to learn how to treat women as a real gentleman, to offer me flowers and show me what I mean to them and our family…
